I have travelled twice to the United States to train under Master Roger Koo, the first time in September 1998 with one of my students, James Spence, for one week of intensive training, the second time in October 2000 for two weeks of intensive training.

There are subtle differences between the US syllabus and the UK syllabus due to the different lifestyles and the facilities available. The US syllabus provides a more intensive aerobic and anaerobic workout. The UK syllabus provides more training for multiples opponents and for confined spaces such as pubs and nightclubs.

As mentioned above, the US syllabus provides a very intense aerobic and anaerobic workout that reaches all part of the body. Back in the UK, I do some form of sport every day, visit the gym at least 3 times a week to do body building and cardiovascular workouts but that still was not enough. Master Roger Koo's workouts left my whole body feeling exhausted with all the cardiovascular workouts that he has created.

Master Roger Koo is constantly researching aerobic and anaerobic workouts. As I discovered on my 2nd visit, the aerobic workouts had become even more intense than the first visit in 1998 and will progress even further.

This doesn't mean that Koo Self Defense is restricted to fit people. The workouts enable you to join in at your own pace and slowly build up.

In both the US and UK, Koo Self Defence is constantly evolving for the needs of modern day society.
